With the use of modern technology such as drain camera’s and pipe locator’s you can save a lot of money avoiding unnecessary excavations and damage to landscaped gardens. Melbourne residents are able to use this latest technology to assess the condition and any problem areas within their drains and sewer pipes in their property. A lot of our customers assume that the cause of an overflowing sewer drain is something has been flushed down the drain and blocked the pipe. Most of the time the cause of such drain blockages can actually be confirmed to be tree root infiltration in the old... View Article

A new customer this week was looking for a plumber in Camberwell and contacted Newman Plumbing. They were experiencing flooding at the rear of their period style home. The storm water drains were the old terracotta style that discharged to a council drain at the front of the home. The drains were completely blocked with a build up of silt and sand from a rear paving area and years of dirt washed down from the homes spouting and roof area. The stormwater drains were cleared with the latest technology drain cleaning equipment. The powerful hydro water jet removed the build up of dirt... View Article

One of the services that Newman Plumbing provide is the licensed application of Sanafoam Vaporooter. Vaporooter pioneered the chemical root control industry over 40 years ago to extend the useful life of sewer systems while eliminating maintenance costs. Vaporooter foam is a unique combination of herbicides that is placed in sewer lines to kill roots on contact and inhibit future root growth. Vaporooter is composed of: A herbicide which penetrates root cell walls and then... View Article

A customer in Hawthorn this week that we serviced had experienced a severe flooding in the front part of their home. The flooding was due to heavy rain and a blocked stormwater drain. The stormwater was unable to discharge and backed up and into the roof area. The water damage to the internal ceiling and carpets was extensive. The downpipe at the front corner of the home was the main problem area. The downpipe was removed to gain access to the stormwater drains where it was revealed to be blocked by a large amount of tree roots, leaves and dirt build up. The latest technology water jet used... A Customer in the east Melbourne suburb of Kew contacted us this week due to flooding that had occurred outside their home. The flooding took place at the rear around the pool area. They have an inground pool with extensive tile paving and landscaping. The paved area drained to a central small grate within the large paved area. It became obvious to us after trying to clear the stormwater drain from this small grate that there was a large amount of dirt and silt build up. It would suggest that a lot of tile grout and silt had been washed down the drain during... Many people maintain their asset that they can see but overlook underground sewer pipes. For a small cost you can have Newman Plumbing inspect your sewer drain and provide a DVD which will give you complete knowledge of your sewer drain condition. You will be able to view this for yourself and hopefully avoid yourself any costly relining or replacement pipe issues in the future, also not to mention the distribution of established gardens and concrete driveways and paths. Tree roots grow into the junctions of older earthenware pipes cell by cell and enter the pipe eventually causing a blockage. While... View Article
