Almost another year is over and what a busy year it has been for us here at Newman Plumbing! We have helped hundreds of local Melbourne residents get their plumbing issues sorted and are looking forward to doing it all again in 2020.

We have also invested in more quality plumbing equipment so that we can continue to provide our customers with the most up to date and cost effective solutions, and have been a part of many events within the plumbing community doing our part to raise awareness and safety for our industry.

Whether you’re going away over the Christmas holiday break or not, we wish you all the very best and have a few little tips that might help save your holiday:

  • Turn Off the Water Supply –

If you’re going away, why not just turn your water supply off? Doing so will eliminate the nasty surprise of coming back to a flooded home!

  • Pre-Holiday Home Plumbing Inspections –

Got a bunch of friends and family coming around to join in the festivities? A pre-holiday plumbing inspection might just help you avoid any nasty surprises – including the call out cost of an emergency plumber on Christmas Day.

  • Set or Turn Off Your Hot Water Unit –

By turning off or turning down your hot water unit when you go on vacation, you can significantly reduce the amount of energy and money, leaving more to spend on your vacation goods.

  • Don’t Put Grease Down the Drain –

It is advisable to avoid pouring fats, oils and grease down your drains any time of the year, but especially in the holiday season when there is an abundance of hot foods being prepared. By pouring these substances down the drain, you risk causing your sewer pipes to clog as the oils and fats harden.

  • Toilets Clog Easily –

It’s the time of year when your toilet is likely to be working overtime, particularly if you are having additional guests in your home. First of all, we remind you to ensure your toilet is up for the task but also to avoid flushing unnecessary items which are more than likely to cause damage.

Once again, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from the team here at Newman Plumbing!
