2022 was the wettest year in Melbourne since 2011, with October and November being particularly wet months. For some homeowners, this increased rainfall put more pressure on their drains, resulting in blockages and structural problems – never an ideal situation, and even less so leading up to the holidays!

In this blog, we’re going to focus on how we helped a client in Doncaster who was experiencing a blockage in their stormwater drain. Our team were recommended to the homeowners by one of their work colleagues who we had helped just a couple of months earlier with a similar issue.
Once they got in touch with us, our team were quick to head to their home in Doncaster and find the source of the problem.

How Did Newman Plumbing Help?

Our experienced team handles blockages regularly, so we knew exactly how to remedy the situation. First, we utilised one of our drain cameras to get a better look at the blockage. By inserting this helpful tool into the pipe, we were able to locate the blockage quickly and as a result, could determine the best course of action. Our team also checked the condition of the stormwater drain to see if any parts were damaged and needed replacing.

Confident it was a build-up of debris and not a structural issue, we then inserted a water jet into the drain. This specialist equipment sends highly pressurised water through the pipe, clearing blockages without having to dig up or disturb the ground, making it a much cleaner and cheaper process. Once we had determined that the issue was resolved, we packed up our equipment and let the client get back on with their day.
